For start let’s know a little bit more about what exactly it is Camera Surveillance Wifi Miami Beach Coral Gables.

¿WHAT IS SURVEILLANCE?

Is the monitoring of behavior, activities, or other changing information for the purpose of influencing, managing, directing, or protecting people. This can include observation from a distance by means of electronic equipment (such as closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras) or interception of electronically transmitted information (such as Internet traffic or phone calls). CAMERA SURVEILLANCE WIFI MIAMI BEACH CORAL GABLES

CAMERA SURVEILLANCE WIFI MIAMI BEACH CORAL GABLES

It can also include simple no- or relatively low-technology methods such as human intelligence agents and postal interception. The word surveillance comes from a French phrase for “watching over” (sur means “from above” and veiller means “to watch”) and is in contrast to more recent developments such as sousveillance. CAMERA SURVEILLANCE WIFI MIAMI BEACH CORAL GABLES

Surveillance is used by governments for intelligence gathering, prevention of crime, the protection of a process, person, group or object, or the investigation of crime. It is also used by criminal organizations to plan and commit crimes, such as robbery and kidnapping, by businesses to gather intelligence, and by private investigators. CAMERA SURVEILLANCE WIFI MIAMI BEACH CORAL GABLES

Surveillance can be understood as a violation of privacy, and as such is often opposed by various civil liberties groups and activists. Liberal democracies have laws which restrict domestic government and private use of surveillance, usually limiting it to circumstances where public safety is at risk. Authoritarian government seldom has any domestic restrictions, and international espionage is common among all types of countries. CAMERA SURVEILLANCE WIFI MIAMI BEACH CORAL GABLES

The area of surveillance is increasingly a topic of academic study, including through research centers, books, and peer-reviewed academic journals. CAMERA SURVEILLANCE WIFI MIAMI BEACH CORAL GABLES

SOCIAL NETWORK ANALYSIS

A graph of the relationships between users on the social networking site Facebook. Social network analysis enables governments to gather detailed information about peoples’ friends, family, and other contacts. Since much of this information is voluntarily made public by the users themselves, it is often consider to be a form of open-source intelligence

One common form of surveillance is to create maps of social networks based on data from social networking sites such as Facebook, MySpace, Twitter as well as from traffic analysis information from phone call records such as those in the NSA call database, and others. These social network “maps” are then data mined to extract useful information such as personal interests, friendships & affiliations, wants, beliefs, thoughts, and activities.

Many U.S. government agencies such as the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), the National Security Agency (NSA), and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) are investing heavily in research involving social network analysis.[66][67] The intelligence community believes that the biggest threat to U.S. power comes from decentralized, leaderless, geographically dispersed groups of terrorists, subversives, extremists, and dissidents. These types of threats are most easily countered by finding important nodes in the network, and removing them. To do this requires a detailed map of the network.

Jason Ethier of Northeastern University, in his study of modern social network analysis, said the following of the Scalable Social Network Analysis Program developed by the Information Awareness Office:

The purpose of the SSNA algorithms program is to extend techniques of social network analysis to assist with distinguishing potential terrorist cells from legitimate groups of people…. In order to be successful SSNA will require information on the social interactions of the majority of people around the globe. Since the Defense Department cannot easily distinguish between peaceful citizens and terrorists, it will be necessary for them to gather data on innocent civilians as well as on potential terrorists. CAMERA SURVEILLANCE WIFI MIAMI BEACH CORAL GABLES

AT&T developed a programming language called “Hancock”, which is able to sift through enormous databases of phone call and Internet traffic records, such as the NSA call database, and extract “communities of interest”—groups of people who call each other regularly, or groups that regularly visit certain sites on the Internet. CAMERA SURVEILLANCE WIFI MIAMI BEACH CORAL GABLES

AT&T originally built the system to develop “marketing leads”, but the FBI has regularly requested such information from phone companies such as AT&T without a warrant, and after using the data stores all information received in its own databases, regardless of whether or not the information was ever useful in an investigation. CAMERA SURVEILLANCE WIFI MIAMI BEACH CORAL GABLES

Some people believe that the use of social networking sites is a form of “participatory surveillance”, where users of these sites are essentially performing surveillance on themselves, putting detailed personal information on public websites where it can be viewed by corporations and governments. In 2008, about 20% of employers reported using social networking sites to collect personal data on prospective or current employees. CAMERA SURVEILLANCE WIFI MIAMI BEACH CORAL GABLES

¿WHAT IS CAMERA SURVEILLANCE WIFI MIAMI BEACH CORAL GABLES?

Closed-circuit television (CCTV), also known as video surveillance, is the use of video cameras to transmit a signal to a specific place, on a limited set of monitors. It differs from broadcast television in that the signal is not openly transmitted, though it may employ point to point (P2P), point to multipoint (P2MP), or mesh wired or wireless links.

Though almost all video cameras fit this definition, the term is most often applied to those used for surveillance in areas that may need monitoring such as bars, banks, casinos, schools, hotels, airports, hospitals, restaurants, military installations, convenience stores and other areas where security is needed. Though Videotelephony is seldom called “CCTV” one exception is the use of video in distance education, where it is an important tool.

Surveillance of the public using CCTV is common in many areas around the world. In recent years, the use of body worn video cameras has been introduced as a new form of surveillance, often used in law enforcement, with cameras located on a police officer’s chest or head. Video security has generated significant debate about balancing its use with individuals’ right to privacy even when in public. CAMERA SURVEILLANCE WIFI MIAMI BEACH CORAL GABLES

TYPES OF WIFI SURVEILLANCE CAMERAS MIAMI BEACH CORAL GABLES

The simplest way to think about the types of security cameras is to break them down into two groups: indoor cameras and outdoor cameras. While each of these groups have different styles of cameras within them, those differences will become apparent when you compare features, so separating them further isn’t necessary. For instance, none of the cameras we talk about in this guide are dome cameras, not because dome cameras are of lower quality, but because they simply aren’t necessary for most home security camera systems. CAMERA SURVEILLANCE WIFI MIAMI BEACH CORAL GABLES

Both types of security cameras are available as stand-alone units with monitoring apps or as part of subscription-based home security monitoring systems. In this guide, we compare the top indoor and outdoor security cameras as well as the combinations of cameras available through the top subscription monitoring services. CAMERA SURVEILLANCE WIFI MIAMI BEACH CORAL GABLES

IMPORTANT SURVEILLANCE CAMERA FEATURES MIAMI BEACH CORAL GABLES

Below are some of the important features to keep in mind when comparing home security cameras.

  • Motion Detection (Wifi Surveillance camera Miami Beach Coral Gables): Cameras with motion detection can send you notifications when the camera observes motion within its field of view. These notifications can alert you to suspicious activity so you can monitor the situation.
  • Field of View (Wifi Surveillance camera Miami Beach Coral Gables): Field of view refers to how wide an angle a camera can record. This is important because it will affect how many cameras you’ll need and where you should place them.
  • Sound (Wifi Surveillance camera Miami Beach Coral Gables): The sound feature can refer to your camera receiving sound via a microphone, emitting sound via a speaker, or both. Cameras with both can double as intercoms.
  • Resolution (Wifi Surveillance camera Miami Beach Coral Gables): Resolution defines how clear the image from your camera will be. A clearly visible image is very helpful when trying to identify faces or items in the images your camera records.
  • Wi-Fi Capability (Wifi Surveillance camera Miami Beach Coral Gables): A camera with Wi-Fi can communicate with your home network wirelessly, which can be very handy for installation, and is also less susceptible to being disabled because it doesn’t have wires that could be cut.
  • Night Vision (Wifi Surveillance camera Miami Beach Coral Gables):: The distance from which your camera can record images in low- to no-light situations can have a great impact on its effectiveness because often criminal activity can happen at night.

  • Movement (Wifi Surveillance camera Miami Beach Coral Gables):: A camera that can pan and/or tilt may be able to record a larger area than a static camera and therefore reduce the total number of cameras needed to observe a particular area.
  • Cost (Wifi Surveillance camera Miami Beach Coral Gables): Obviously, if a camera costs so much that you can no longer afford the valuables you’re trying to protect with it, then it doesn’t serve a purpose. Cost is a factor for every purchasing decision.

TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENTS OF SECURITY CCTV

Computer-controlled analytics and identification package

Computer-controlled cameras can identify, track, and categorize objects in their field of view.

Video content analysis (VCA) is the capability of automatically analyzing video to detect and determine temporal events not based on a single image. As such, it can be seen as the automated equivalent of the biological visual cortex.

A system using VCA can recognize changes in the environment and even identify and compare objects in the database using size, speed, and sometimes colour. The camera’s actions can be programmed based on what it is “seeing”. For example; an alarm can be issued if an object has moved in a certain area, or if a painting is missing from a wall, or if a smoke or fire is detected, or if running people are detected, or if fallen people are detected and if someone has spray painted the lens, as well as video loss, lens cover, defocus and other so called camera tampering events.

10 Reasons Your Business Needs a Video Surveillance System

By Pro-Vigil | January 26, 2017

As you run your own business, no doubt you’ve considered the possibility of installing a new video surveillance system. While there may certainly be some serious concerns, the benefits of adopting a security camera system for business(es) can far outweigh the drawbacks. The following are just a few reasons a video surveillance system is a good investment.

Improve Employee Productivity

It’s a simple fact that when workers know the boss is watching, they’re more than likely to work harder, but that’s not the only reason video surveillance can provide a boost to productivity. With video systems in place, different departments will be able to communicate with each other more effectively. With this greater degree of collaboration and cooperation, business productivity can only increase.

Resolve Conflicts

Conflicts can pop up in any number of cases. Sometimes it might be a dispute between an employee and a customer, or it could be between two employees. In instances like these, it’s helpful for the business to look at what happened and come to a decision on how best to proceed. This is possible when the company has a security camera system installed, giving proof of what happened.

Theft Reduction

Surveillance cameras are an excellent way to both prevent and reduce theft. The mere presence of a security camera is sometimes enough for a prospective thief to rethink their plan of action. With a surveillance system in place, incidents of theft can be reduced dramatically, saving your business money and keeping your store and offices secure. CAMERA SURVEILLANCE WIFI MIAMI BEACH CORAL GABLES

A Better Experience

Today’s video surveillance systems go beyond simply recording footage. Many come equipped with the latest in video analytics technology. These commercial security solutions use analytics in order to track people as they go through stores, building profiles on what customers like and dislike, what catches their attention, and more. By analyzing the video, your business can determine what will have the biggest impact on customer decisions. With this in mind, you’ll be able to provide a better customer experience for everyone. CAMERA SURVEILLANCE WIFI MIAMI BEACH CORAL GABLES

Real Time Monitoring

One benefit of surveillance cameras is they provide you with real time monitoring of your place of business. You would no longer need to look through archival footage to find what you need; instead you watch things in the moment they happen. Best of all, with a remote video monitoring service, you can view it all from the convenience of your mobile device no matter where you are. This allows you to keep an eye on your property should you suddenly get worried about what is happening while you are away. CAMERA SURVEILLANCE WIFI MIAMI BEACH CORAL GABLES

Improved Safety

When it comes to lone worker safety, few systems lead to a safer environment than a video surveillance system. Security cameras can monitor employees while they’re working alone on the factory floor, for example. Should an accident or other dangerous incident occur, the surveillance system can provide an immediate alert to help that employee out. In some industries, surveillance system are needed to comply with federal and state safety regulations in the first place. CAMERA SURVEILLANCE WIFI MIAMI BEACH CORAL GABLES

Digital Storage

As helpful as recording events in real time is, surveillance systems can also act as digital storage systems. All that footage can be stored digitally, giving you a large store of information which you can study and analyze for future use. With today’s security systems, finding the video footage you want has also become easier.

Helpful Evidence

Criminal activity can’t be avoided 100% of the time. That’s why it’s so useful that a video surveillance system is able to provide investigators with valuable evidence in criminal cases. Gone are the days of grainy footage now that most security cameras have high resolutions that can pick out the tiniest details, all to aid investigations and catch the people responsible.

Access Control

One advantage to using security cameras is the ability for you to monitor who has access to your premises. With today’s advanced systems, you can immediately identify who is entering or exiting at any time, ensuring that your workplace remains secure. Denying access to suspicious people who don’t meet security requirements can be valuable to the safety of your business.

Business Savings

Perhaps one of the most convincing arguments for using a video surveillance system is the cost savings it gives you. While the initial installation of the system requires an investment, you can make that money back and more simply by having the system in place. Reducing theft means taking a small hit to your inventory expenses. Improving productivity means more work gets done. Making the customer experience better means customers are more willing to spend money on your products or services. All in all, surveillance systems simply make sense to your bottom dollar.

Public Safety

Surveillance cameras can be used to keep an eye out for any crimes that are in progress or that can be stopped before they even start. If a suspicious person or item is in the area, the proper authorities can be informed before any crime can be committed or damage can be done. In addition, the area can be cleared of any people as a precautionary measure.

Can Help Catch a Criminal

If a crime is committed and there is a surveillance camera, there is a good chance that the authorities will be able to get a viable image of the criminal. The camera footage can be used to put the image on posters and aired on television where someone might be able to recognize who the person is. Without the surveillance camera, it may be more difficult to get a detailed description of the perpetrator.

Sense of Security

For some people, knowing that surveillance cameras are in certain areas can help create a sense of security. No one wants to fear having to go into an area or feel as though she is not safe. Some may believe that there may be less of a chance that a crime will be committed if there are cameras in the area watching over them.

Crime Prevention

Some businesses and authorities may place cameras in areas in hope that it will prevent crimes from being committed in the first place. If a person knows that there is a surveillance camera in a specific area, he may be less willing to commit a crime at that location for fear of being caught. Some cities are even putting, or have already put, surveillance cameras on stoplights in hopes that it will prevent people from speeding or committing other traffic offenses.

Evidence

In court, the footage from the surveillance camera that captured a crime can be used as evidence against the accused. Without the footage, there may be little to no evidence to go on and the criminal could go free. In some cases, the footage may also help prove the innocence of someone who was accused of a crime, but did not commit it. Public Safety

Controversy over Business Security Systems

While there are many great benefits to video surveillance systems in business, there are some bad things to consider as well. Some studies state that the work environment with video surveillance systems monitored is more stressful. And more employees suffer from depression, anxiety, fatigue, as well as other health complaints.

Best Business Video Surveillance Systems As privacy violation is causing the major concern for installing security cameras in public places, misuse of surveillance cameras in business can also lead to privacy invasion, or even worse, sexual harassment.

So considering employee’s privacy, federal and state courts have ruled that commercial video surveillance cameras are illegal to be installed in private places. For example, employers cannot install cameras in restrooms or locker rooms where people change their clothes. If you are business owners, you should firstly refer to federal and state laws regarding privacy. Note that installing cameras in these places would be sued under laws.

Conclusion of Installing Video Surveillance Cameras in Business

While these complaints about commercial surveillance systems do need to be considered, typically the pros outweigh the cons in the case of using business video surveillance. Every business needs to take the time to consider installing some type of video surveillance system in order to improve the overall safety of the workplace and as a way to protect the company’s assets.

As to installation of commercial surveillance cameras, there are two ways. For owners who have small sized business, like a small retail store, you can install a surveillance system by yourself. This will save a large amount of money. And the whole installation process is not complicated, just like installing your home security cameras. For someone in charge of a large office and company, you can consider hiring a professional security camera installation company to do it for you.

Another practical thing you need to consider is the cost of a business security system. It is important to refer to some reviews and make comparison before you finally choose one.  How much would you like to spend on it? Or if you have other questions, let us know in the comment below. USES OF WIFI SECURITY CAMERAS FOR CRIME PREVENTION

CCTV caused a significant reduction of crime by on average 16%.

The largest effects of CCTV were found in car parks, where cameras reduced crime by on average 51%.

CCTV schemes in other public settings had small and non-statistically significant effects on crime: 7% reduction in city and town centers and 23% reduction in public transport settings.

When sorted by country, systems in the United Kingdom accounted for the majority of the decrease; the drop in other areas was insignificant.

The studies included in the meta-analysis used quasi-experimental evaluation designs that involve before-and-after measures of crime in experimental and control areas. However, several researchers have pointed to methodological problems associated with this research literature.

First, researchers have argued that the British car park studies included in the meta-analysis cannot accurately control for the fact that CCTV was introduced simultaneously with a range of other security-related measures. Second, some have noted that, in many of the studies, there may be issues with selection bias since the introduction of CCTV was potentially endogenous to previous crime trends. In particular, the estimated effects may be biased if CCTV is introduced in response to crime trends.

It has been argued that problems of selection bias and endogeneity can be adressed by stronger research designs such as randomized controlled trials and natural experiments. A 2017 review published in Journal of Scandinavian Studies in Criminology and Crime Prevention compiles seven studies that use such research designs.

The studies included in the review found that CCTV reduced crime by 24-28% in public streets and urban subway stations. It also found that CCTV could decrease unruly behavior in football stadiums and theft in supermarkets/mass merchant stores. However, there was no evidence of CCTV having desirable effects in parking facilities or suburban subway stations.

Another question in the effectiveness of CCTV for policing is around uptime of the system; in 2013 City of Philadelphia Auditor found that the $15M system was only operational 32% of the time. There is still much research to be done to determine the effectiveness of CCTV cameras on crime prevention before any conclusions can be drawn.

Closed-circuit video cameras in the Navy Yard complex caught gunman Aaron Alexis during his shooting rampage.

There is strong anecdotal evidence that CCTV aids in detection and conviction of offenders; indeed UK police forces routinely seek CCTV recordings after crimes. Moreover, CCTV has played a crucial role in tracing the movements of suspects or victims and is widely regarded by antiterrorist officers as a fundamental tool in tracking terrorist suspects. CAMERA SURVEILLANCE WIFI MIAMI BEACH CORAL GABLES

Large-scale CCTV installations have played a key part of the defenses against terrorism since the 1970s. Cameras have also been installed on public transport in the hope of deterring crime, and in mobile police surveillance vehicles, often with automatic number plate recognition, and a network of APNI-linked cameras is used to manage London’s congestion charging zone. CAMERA SURVEILLANCE WIFI MIAMI BEACH CORAL GABLES

Even so, there is political hostility to surveillance and several commentators downplay the evidence of CCTV’s effectiveness, especially in the US. However, most of these assertions are based on poor methodology or imperfect comparisons. CAMERA SURVEILLANCE WIFI MIAMI BEACH CORAL GABLES
